The 70th anniversary of the State of Israel, which will take place in April, will last for 70 hours and will include a variety of mass events, including a nationwide fireworks show, beach parties, a host of shows and marches. The festivities will begin with the torch-lighting ceremony on the eve of Independence Day on Wednesday, April 18, and will last until Friday – at a mass Kabbalat Shabbat ceremony.

During the fair, there will also be a play for children, a workshop on how to build a “cardboard city” for the entire family, and exciting activities for children about environmental protection.
On Tuesday, March 13th 2018, sirens will be sounded across the country at 11:05 am and 7:05 pm as part of the National Home Front Drill. Additionally, alerts will be activated via the television, radio, internet websites, the Home Front application and beepers for the hard-of-hearing. Practice entering your shelter and ensure that you are prepared.
In the case of a real alarm, an additional siren will be sounded after the first siren.

Being held during the 50th Anniversary of the re-unification of Jerusalem, the Jerusalem Marathon is spectacular, and is one which challenges the runners while exposing them to magnificent views and Jerusalem’s unique culture. The marathon courses were especially selected to recount Jerusalem’s 3000-year historical narrative since the beginning of its existence. The runners will experience comfortable weather and a low level of humidity at this time of year. An expected 30,000 participants will compete (or run for fun) in either the full (42.2km) or half (21.1km) marathons, 10k and 5km runs, a 1.7km family race and an 800 m community race. Between them they will be supporting 17 different Israeli charities.

The event is running throughout the coming week, with lectures by women about women on a variety of topics.
